The Community Folks Arts Council
can provide a ethnic touch to your entertainment needs for your upcoming event !
 

 

The Community Folk Arts Council is an umbrella organization representing and promoting the richness and diversity of the cultural and artistic activities of the many heritage communities throughout Toronto.

As a member of Folklore Canada International and CIOFF, the Council organizes a variety of program's and festivals in which our group members - groups that preserve the traditional dances, music, songs, arts and crafts of their heritage - can come together and showcase their exceptional talent and wonderful traditions.

Upcoming CFAC events and performances:

Multicultural Canada Day Festival

Tuesday July 1st @ Yonge Dundas Square

FREE 12 - 9pm

The Community Folk Art Council of Toronto, a non-for-profit organization,  will be hosting a its 2nd Annual Multicultural Canada Day Festival  at Yonge Dundas Dundas Square. This will showcase many ethnically diverse dance groups that will present 30-minute ethnic folk dance performances on the main stage. The Community Folk Art Council, for some 40 years is the acknowledged leader in promoting the traditional arts in Toronto.

This Multicultural  Canada Day Festival  serves as a catalyst and is a means of creating awareness that a learning concept exists.  Our festival will showcase Folklore. This festival will feature the many cultures and ethnic groups that makes Toronto a great place to live.

At this Canada Day festival you will be able  enjoy the performing arts, visual arts, crafts, dancing, information and foods representing cultures from around the globe. With special events just for kids, it's great (free) family entertainment!

Past CFAC Events:

23rd Canadian Expressive Heritage Conference
May17 & 18, 2008.

The Canadian Expressive Heritage Conference, that was be held in Montreal from May 17 and 18, gave the opportunity to meet leaders that share means and aims and make peoples know about the richness of Cultural Intangible Heritage.

This Conference was a unique chance to find new ideas, to promote Intangible Cultural Heritage and Cultural Diversity.

A diverse day of festive folklore for all generations with shoes, music, dance, and folk art from around the world in the city's favorite shoe box. A new project featuring CFAC member groups from October 2007 until June 2008  at the Bata Shoe Museum

FOOTSTEPS 2007 - 2008

A new federally financed project that will give 15 Toronto retirement homes  the opportunity to see 15 CFAC member groups perform in their facilities. This project runs from April 2007 untill January 2008.
